Caracol is located about 25 miles south of Spanish Lookout, nestled in the foothills of the Maya Mountains within the vast Chiquibul Forest Reserve. Once a thriving metropolis of over 150,000 people, Caracol was the largest Maya center in Belize and holds a significant place in ancient Maya history.
